1 Dead In Seekonk Crash Involving 3 Vehicles

SEEKONK, MA — One person is dead and another person injured following a crash involving three vehicles on Route 195 westbound just before Exit 1 in Seekonk Tuesday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The crash was reported at 1:20 p.m., after which all three lanes were closed “to facilitate life-saving efforts of involved vehicle occupants,” police said.

A 36-year-old Springfield man who had been driving a 2022 Toyota Highlander died in the crash, according to police.

A 45-year-old North Easton man driving a 2022 Ford F-650 was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and a 31-year-old Hallandale, Florida man driving a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer was not injured, police said.

WPRI photojournalist Corey Welch shared on X photos from the scene of the box truck up in flames with debris spilled all over the road.

In an update just after 2:30 p.m., Welch added that a vehicle was pinned between the box truck and the guardrail.

All lanes reopened and the scene cleared shortly after 6:30 p.m., state police said.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by members of Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police, along with Troopers assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, according to state police.
