PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha said that two men have been sentence to a combined 41 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl.
33-year-old Miguel Cruz and 23-year-old Angel Camilo pled guilty to the charges of possession of over one kilogram of fentanyl, possession of over one kilogram of para-Flourofentanyl, conspiracy to violate Rhode Island’s Uniform Controlled Substances Act, possession of a ghost gun, and possession of a ghost gun while possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Investigators said that in 2021 they discovered that a basement of a residence on Marlborough Street had been converted into a lab where the fentanyl was made, leading to the arrests of Cruz and Camilo.
Investigators found approximately $20,000 in cash and two 9mm Polymer80 ghost guns along with the drugs when investigating the men’s residences and vehicles.
Cruz was sentenced to serve 23 years with a 10 year suspended sentence. Camilo was sentenced to 18 years to serve with a 10 year suspended sentence.
