Now is the time to take advantage of free outdoor concerts at Roger Williams Park that will take you on a global journey. The third event of this year’s FirstWorks Summer Beats concert series will transport audiences to the dance floors of New York City’s Salsa scene with an electrifying performance by 12-piece Salsa Dura sensation La Excelencia. It all takes place Sunday, July 21, from 6-7:30 PM at the Roger Williams Park Bandstand. Come early to learn some Salsa dance moves from the band and Rhode Island’s own Mambo Pa Ti (4:30-5:30pm). You can also grab some food with Food Truck Friday and get down to “kitchen dance” music from The Cayman Islands with Swanky Kitchen Band on Friday, July 26, from 6-7:30pm at the Roger Williams Park Boathouse Lawn.
The venue is Wheelchair Accessible with Handicapped Access Bathrooms Available. Earplugs, Masks and Chairs are available. For questions about accessibility, contact Rainy Stanford at rstanford@firstworks.org.
Joining us on The Rhode Show today were Kathleen Pletcher, Executive Artistic Director, FirstWorks, and Lydia Perez, Founder and Artistic Director, Puerto Rican Institute of Arts and Advocacy, Inc., (PRIAA).
