PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — It’s officially been three years since David Lozada was shot and killed while walking in Providence.
To this day, the 19-year-old’s killer remains at large.
Lozada was gunned down near Hanover and Ford streets and run over by the suspect’s car while trying to escape. He later died at the hospital.
12 News has reached out to the Providence Police Department to see where the investigation stands and is waiting to hear back.
Meanwhile, Lozada’s family is determined to make sure he isn’t forgotten.
“He was a good kid,” his father Roberto Lozada said while standing vigil Friday evening on Ford Street. “He never got into trouble.”
Not a day goes by where Roberto doesn’t think of his son. He told 12 News he drives down Ford Street regularly and wears a locket containing David’s ashes around his neck.
Roberto hopes that one day, his son’s killer will be brought to justice.
“I don’t know why he was targeted,” he continued. “I just want answers … [Our] family is suffering.”
Anyone with information regarding David’s murder is asked to contact the Providence Police Department by calling (401) 272-3121.
