PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Pawtucket man is facing charges after he allegedly lied about his criminal record when trying to buy a gun from a licensed dealer, the R.I. Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Richard Osoria attempted to buy a gun from Lost Treasures Gun & Coin in June 2023, but he was turned down after a background check.
Investigators found that he falsified information on his state and federal applications, denying his prior offenses.

The AG’s office said Osoria was arrested twice the previous year for domestic incidents. Court records show he pleaded no contest to charges of domestic assault and violation of a no-contact order, for which he received a one-year suspended sentence and a year of probation. He was also ordered to surrender all firearms.
Under federal law, anyone who has been convicted of domestic violence or is subject to a restraining order is prohibited from having guns and ammunition.
Osoria is charged with false information in securing a firearm or license. He was arraigned last week and is due back in court in September for a pretrial conference.
