EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Three suspects were arrested Tuesday morning after police received reports of gunfire during a robbery in East Providence.
Shots were fired at the victim around 9 a.m. in the area of James Street, according to the East Providence Police Department (EPPD).
The victim reportedly approached an officer after the incident and described the three suspects and their car.
Officers and detectives responded to the area and found a red Honda SUV that crashed at the intersection of James St. and Blanding Avenue.
Neighbors confirmed the sound of gunfire to EPPD and showed them where the suspects fled.
Police located the three hiding behind the skate ramp near the Central Avenue playground. A loaded firearm was also located near the suspects.
The trio was positively identified by the victim, taken into custody and brought to the police station for processing.
EPPD said this is an isolated incident. The suspects’ names and charges will be released after further investigation.
